Exchange Semester - Mexico
International Design course, Universität Tecnológico de Monterrey, teached from the designer Fabien Cappello. As part of the course, each student designed a piece for a Mexican outdoor food establishment. My piece, the Guadalajara chair, draws inspiration from the typical Mexican Acapulco chair design. Additionally, the form incorporates a mix of my own German heritage and simple geometric forms found in the Bauhaus movement.
Alongside exploring local producers in Mexico, I used university workshops to create prototypes for myself. I cut and welded construction steel, which is an easy, affordable, and durable material, to construct a chair.
